Looking to move up from my beloved 2007 Dakota to a Ram 1500 as I need a larger truck. I know of a 2017 1500 with a diesel engine that is for sale. I'm looking to get feedback on the reliability of the engine and the vehicle in general.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

I personally wouldn’t buy one. I had two 1500 with the diesel and they both had quite a few issues. The first one had the whole emissions system replaced the second one had an engine blow up. In my opinion if you want a diesel get the Cummins.

Is a gummed up egr cooler leading to a 21k fix a maintenance item or a defect? My guess, the warranty co would say failed maintenance.
