2017 Ram 1500 Service Trailer Brake Message

All, forgive me if this has been posted but for some reason I cannot find anything. I have a 2017 ram 1500 with the 3.6L gas engine. I purchased an OEM trailer brake module and Controller about a year ago and installed and flashed it via JSCAN. It worked well for about 4 months when one fall morning I went to start it and the trailer brake was turning itself on without a trailer attached and without the brake being pressed. Eventually the “Service Trailer Brake” message appeared. Some days it takes a nice bump to turn on while others it turns on immediately with the truck. I have pushed in all fuses/replaced all fuses associated with the trailer brake. I have searched for grounds beneath the truck and cleaned the up and have cleaned out the 7 pin itself. I’m pretty lost here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 17 ram 1500 express 4x4 quad cad and I recently bought the integrated trailer brake controller and module I’ve installed and programmed via JScan and all trailer lights work as they should but the trailer brakes will come on every time I press the brake peddle for more than about 5 seconds when I hold the brakes down it chimes and says service trailer brake system then goes away and comes back in about 5 second intervals until I take my foot off the brake. Also when I disconnect I will get a red crossed out trailer light on my dash and will stay there until I turn the truck off and turn it back on. Has anyone had any of these issues? Btw I bought this truck new in 17 I’m the original owner and have never needed to use them until recently I do take very good care of it and it is garage kept so no rust and no mice. I’m beginning to think I got sold a faulty module or maybe the controller

There have been quite a few people complaining of problems with aftermarket ITBM for these trucks, the fix is buy an OEM version

Also when I disconnect I will get a red crossed out trailer light on my dash and will stay there until I turn the truck off and turn it back on.

This is supposed to happen, it's a trailer disconnect notification. Also if you have the 7" multi-page EVIC the trailer screen should pop up when you slide the manual brake lever even if a trailer is not connected.

Following up on this. I sanded down the grounds on the rear of the truck again and haven’t had this issue since.
