This going to come up every year I guess?

With how overpriced SRT8 vehicles are.
Rather getting a F-150 with roush supercharger.

me thinks you are missing something here, you first need to spend 40k+ plus for a truck and then pay the extra 30-45k for the Roush pkg so now you need to fork over 70-85k minimum for you Roush charged truck. He does the same thing for Mustangs, I know from personal experience:favorites13: Give the dealer a call I will pay the long distance charges

No. Ram needs to drop HEMI, period.

They need to make a DOHC V8 like Ford did. Dump the HEMI game, its played out and they need to let go. Start from scratch dump your money into a brand new motor that will out power and out last anything Ford is making right now.. there is so much tech in motors now why Dodge keeps hanging onto a motor they reuped in 2003 is beyond me..

Not so sure Chrysler should drop a proven truck worthy motor. Ford's EcoBoost is not necessarily a long term reliable power plant and the rap on Ford's Coyote V8 is that it lacks grunt at low RPM and not really ideally suited for towing and load hauling. That's why I passed on the Ford-along with 6 speed trans and driveline issues. Plus both Eco and Coyote only manage 16mpg in real world numbers. I do better than that with my Hemi.

Ive owned both Chevy 5.3s, the Eco, and now the 5.7 hemi(words out have only had it a week) But so far the eco has been the best truck engine Ive had. With 3.73 gearing I was able to avg 17mpg and around 12-14 mpg while towing depending on the load very impressive engine. You always hear of the reliability issue with these, there were some kinks at first, but were now talking what 6-7 model years with very little issues. So I would say the reliability question has been partially answered.

^^ the Coyote is not a truck motor. They made it for the mustang then made it work in their trucks. Your correct in the low power statement, this is what prevented me from getting an F150 in 2014 (among other things).. However. If this technology was used in a bigger motor, with all of the issues fixed then it would be much much better than the HEMI. Our motors have issues that keep repeating, and being a push rod motor in 2016 I feel is just primitive. The LS is another beast. Chevy figured something out and its amazing how well that motor performs all around, but like I said I think the HEMI's time has passed its peak. I think FCA and Dodge can do much better with today's tech.

I'd read that the LS and Hemi motors are very similar in design. I don't know enough to know if that's true or not, but seems like both motors have similar capabilities if you believe the engine buildups/shootout tests.

I have a Mustang with the Coyote motor and agree, only so much you can do with 5 liters NA at low RPM's. If they were to build a turbo or supercharged version for the HD's it would probably be outstanding.

I'm sure fuel economy has much to do with it, but the SRT 6.4/8 speed combo would be hard to beat for the money in a Ram 1500. I had an auto Scat Pack Challenger for 2 weeks and it's an unreal combination. There are just no weak spots in the 6.4 powerband, it feels like a completely different animal than the 5.7. Seems like they have much less TM intrusion on the cars as well.

Yes, if you want all the Roush BS

This is a base model F-150 with a the Roush blower slapped on. And I know they do it for the stangs too. That's how I found out about this. It spread like wildfire when a dealership up north was selling Mustangs with a roush blower for 40K.

You don't need to pay the charges, lol.
I talked to him this weekend. It's true and this not the only dealer doing this.

Where did i say it didnt?

I said they figured something out with it to make it perform better, implying it was the same design.

that is a good deal then because in the past if you got just the blower ROUSH BEING A MONEY HOG WOULD CHARGE A MINIMUM OF 10K AND UP (damn caps) I just can't believe how cheap these trucks are ie 33k with a 10K and up charge. I guess that means the base truck is a lowly 23K ish:favorites13: I just went to their site (Joe Meyers) and they had 2 XLT Roush packaged F150's with just the appearance package (385hp) and they were marked down to 59,000.00. Imagine what a Ford top model Roush would be, right around 90,000.00.

I wonder how they'd keep the tires from burning off of it...

I don't believe they will make a HellRam. A 6.4 in the R/T or sport, or as an added option, very possible.

A friend and I were kicking around an interesting idea the other day. If Ram took the design for the pentastar, and made a v8 based on it. you would have a 4.8 or so liter v8 that would put out more power than the 5.7, and it would still be fuel efficient, especially if they incorporated MDS into it. If they kept the piston squirters and 6 bolt mains, it would be an amazing platform to supercharge as well.
