2017 RAM Radio Upgrade to Carplay

Hello all.

I have a 2017 RAM 2500 Laramie with the touch screen NAV radio. I am wanting to switch it to the newer factory radio that has navigation but also accepts Carplay. Is it possible to swap these units? If so, what unit am I looking to upgrade to? Is it better to just upgrade to an aftermarket head unit with navigation? We are "off grid" pretty regularly, so having that navigation system as a backup is always nice.

I appreciate any insight, advice or direction you can provide!
