Wow. Just great. Took my sport for a bath today, I live in a province that salts the roads here in the winter moderately but not what I would call heavily. Was checking things out after rinsing the road grime off, and noticed the inner lip of my drivers side rear wheel well is starting to bubble under the paint.

I ran my thumbnail over it to get a feel for it and was able to peel the factory paint off exposing lightly rusted raw steel underneath. No rock chips on the lip that cause a spot for the rust, its literally rusting being the paint in place. I'm afraid this is going to become a big problem in the coming years, my truck is just under 2 years old with 40,000 kilometres on the clock. I certainly didn't pay what I paid for this truck to have to deal with this already.

I have to bring it in to the dealer soon for the recent recalls, I'll bring it up but from what I understand Rams "rust warranty" states the rust has to be completely through the panel for them to cover it. How is that even possible inside of a 5 year warranty? At a loss of words over what to do here.

I have the factory rear wheel well liners it came from the plant with them. I haven't removed them yet, but I'll almost bet that road spray from under the bed gets caught between the liner and the inside of the wheel well and starts to eat away like the cancer it is. I also have aftermarket 13' wide kickback mudflaps on all four corners like I have on all my trucks. Never once has this caused a rust issue on any of my previous trucks, but now I'm worried it will on my Ram for sure. What does a guy do here, remove them and then deal with the screw holes rusting out? Without them, rock chips litter the body and they too eventually rust.

I'm usually really good with fluid filling my vehicles inside and out, but haven't gotten around to the truck yet.... guess i missed the train.

From a long term perspective, what do I do here for the longetivtity of my truck? I can fluid film it myself but as far as exterior is wire wheeling the surface and prepping for Line-X the only option? I had planned to keep this truck until the wheels fall off, but at this pace with rust, the body will fall off the frame before I wear out my tires :(

It's a copperhead pearl sport with beautiful paint, but again at this pace it'll be rust brown in no time.....

There's alot of opinions on bed lining exterior. IMO, if rust has already started, dont do it, they call it cancer because even if a single cancer cell survives it will be back and you wont know till it's too late under the bed liner.

I'm dealing with rust as well, my truck came from Canada and the second hand dealer I got it from did a good job of hiding it. Wasent until my D/S running board fell off that I gave it a closer look. I knocked off the surface rust and hit the metal with rust converter and wash it religiously. Been almost a year since then and looks good

It’s a shame a man spends the kinda of money on a vehicle to just have it rust after 2 years without some type of body damage being the cause. It goes without saying you need to get in front of that.

Submitted a claim with the dealer 3 weeks ago now and have yet to hear anything back. This problem has since gotten much worse, to the point where yesterday while detailing my truck, I was drying it off with my shammy towels and literaly wiped the paint off of the rear wheel well.... no joke. Back to the dealer tomorrow, I've never seen anything like this and I've owned ALOT of trucks.

Really hoping FCA comes clean with this one, as there is obviously an issue with this particular panel and the paint not bonding to it properly. There isn't a single issues anywhere else on the truck, not even a rock chip.

I'd post pictures, but to be honest I'm too embarrassed to bother.
