I’’m purchasing a 2018 Ram Lonestar 4x4 with engine knocking at 138k. What years are interchangeable without changing ECU and other things? Don’t mind changing intake, exhaust.

Also will a engine from car or Durango work?

New to this forum so thanks for any help!

a engine from a durango ect will work however you need to take the timing cover and oil pan/pickup tube from your truck engine 5.7 2013+ will fit depending upon what year you get and from what you will have to swap sensors but physically its the same engine.

So engine from 2020 Charger should work by changing accessories? What about ECU and thanks for the quick response. 2018 Ram 1500 truck

To my knowledge yes that should work and no your ECU is fine just use your old harness. However like i mentioend you will need to change timing cover oil pan oil pickup ect and use all accesories from your old engine.

Also dont be afraid to tear dow the old engine these are very easy to fix/rebuild i bet the one your looking at just has the usual bad cam and lifters.

You know I was told that once however I have done this swap many of times and the truck never cared noticed no diffrence  Unless it changed a bit in the newer vehicles I have only done this to a 2011-2015
