Oil 225f
water 204f
trans 190-210f

Assuming long trip, not a lot of load, which can go higher.

Thanks looks like my hemi has normal operating temps. I know some are concerned about radiator temp and are replacing thermostat with cooler one. Still thinking about that

My advice... don't change anything if you've got warranty left.

And even after that, be very careful following online advice... I'm not saying some of it isn't honest, but a lot of it isn't well informed.

I'm in south Texas. Summer's here are 105+ daily for weeks at a time. Plus, I drive in stop and go traffic everyday on the way home. I did switch to a 180 tstat couple years ago, kept it about ten degrees cooler. Definitely tell a difference driving in cooler Temps vs. hotter Temps.

A 180 might trip a code if your truck is untuned, but you can get away with a 190 thermostat with no issues on a stock truck,it's a little better then the factory 203 thermostat for your conditions.

A 190 thermostat would definitely cool down the water and oil

In Texas you really need to get the thermo bypass the hell off your truck, when they clog they fail and there goes transmission. Much more important then the t stat. Engines can handle 225f all day every day, transmissions can't.

It won't bring the oil temps down as much as you think though. If you want your oil temps to drop a bit,you can do a remote mount filter, that'll help bring your oil temps down slightly, you can even do a dual remote filter set-up,which will take close to 10 degrees out of your oil temps, and give you close to another extra quart of oil. And as Burla stated you can get rid of the trannies thermostat.

I started with a single remote filter, then after a bit switched it up to a dual filter set-up,and that's when i had a noticable drop in oil temps, compared to the stock set-up.
Another thing you can do is switch it over to gold plated Redline 5W-30,which seems to have some success with keeping the cam and lifters alive in a Hemi

I know this topic gets kicked around often, but you wouldn't think Ram 1500 hemis would heat the oil the way they do given they hold 7 quarts and all have an oil filter base oil cooler from the factory. Maybe it was the same back in the day with the older V8s and we just didn't know it.

The oil pre-heater/cooler is relatively new, introduced on the later trucks,i think 17 was the first year for it.

I run a 180 in my 2018 (no tune) and it brought the temps down significantly like I knew it would because I've used them in many vehicles

My highway temps at 78mph

are
Coolant 185
Oil 200
Trans 185-190

I had one in my 09 for 7 years with no issues. It did have a tune so coolant never got over 190 and oil actually ran a lot cooler than my 2018..
Trans was always under 165 but it was a the 5 speed.

So, the trucks have a oil heater too.. That makes so much sense, because the oil warms up so fast in my 2018 then it did in my 2009.
My 2009 would take at least 10-15 minutes of driving before it even got to operating temp.

The 2018 seems like it's at 190 in less then 5 minutes. I thought something had to be difference with my 2018 because even after the 180 T-stat it still did it.
Now I know, man why can't they just leave **** alone. lol
