2018 Uconnect Capabilities

Hello all,

This being a large jump in technology for me (came from and still have my 2001 2500 CTD), I am wondering if the 8.4 Uconnect is capable of reading CEL codes, or if there is some type of app I could use on my iPhone 8 via Carplay, that could do this? I'm a mechanic by trade, so the most information possible always attracts my attention. It seems the Uconnect is a pretty powerful unit, so it is likely possible somehow. I havent looked into jailbreaking my unit as the truck is still under full warranty, but maybe this is the only way.

You won’t be able to use any app you are thinking of through CarPlay. There are only so many apps that Apple will allow to be used directly on the radio.
Apple has a list of apps such as Pandora, iHeart Radio, etc. The normal native apps, Messages, Phone, Maps, etc. are always there when you plug in the phone. Touch the CarPlay icon and they will appear.
IHeartRadio &SiriusXM will show up if you have those on your phone. Those I know for sure as I have them.
