I'm band new to this forum. I got my truck 16 months ago. I was asked to self quarantine myself for 14 days. on day 11 I went out to start my truck. It won't start. It won't open the doors. try both FOBS. open door using the key. Light and everything works dashboard, headlights, interior, bells, locks. Tow driver said this is the second he's towed with the same issue?

I called the dealership after 2 days and find out that the RF module took on water and shorted out. They then told me it's behind the seat? Anyone else have this issue? This doesn't sound normal and if it is, then it shouldn't be.

I just got a call and it's ready to be picked up.

Love what I found here.
Thank you
Mac

Haven't heard on FOB issue. There have been some issues on leaks into Cab, either from Antenna area, rear window, sunroof, water getting in behind seat and onto carpet rear floor area and behind rear seat. I hope U made sure that THEY not just fix module but RESEARCH and take care of LEAK also. Sometimes, those vents behind the seat have leak issues also. MAKE sure U stay on dealer and get leak issue investigated and repaired...

Had similar issues at 900 miles and it was a bad battery. Had to have it towed out of my garage.

Guys I had the dead battery issue also last week. I dropped off my truck last Monday and Just getting it back today. They replaced the battery under warranty. Fixed the check engine light issue by flashing the TCM. I had the radio at times, drop down on volume. They did the USB update 184824. And this seems to be fixed. The last thing I wanted checked was my tail gate not releasing. This is still not fixed. Was displeased with the customer service with this location. Took entirely to long and no communication. I had to make the calls to get info updates on my truck!!!! Not to mention I had an appointment set for last Thursday at 0830. Each time I called they would have to call me back with the update and would be 30 to 45 minutes later. If I had not called today my truck would still be there!!!!.... Very POOR!!!!! Big "O" Dodge you should be ashamed!!!! At least I have my truck back and driving it now. I do enjoy having this Truck!!!!

I got the truck back and the RF module was in water. They replaces and resealed the area. They found NO EVEIDENCE of water getting in. They tried to tell me that I dropped a woater or something back there. The RF connection was carroded and They cleaned it up and it worked great. I never got to discuss it with the dealership since I had to pick up after hours. I'll be there in a few weeks for an oil change and discuss it then.
Thank you for all your valuable information.

Hi @Gregory McKinley - I am very sorry to hear that this was your experience working with your dealer, as it is certainly not the treatment we expect for our customers. If you ever have to work with a dealer again down the road, please do not hesitate to send us a private message so we can get you connected with a case specialist for further support through that process.

I've documented 6 failures to start with a dead battery with my local dealer. The most recent was a last opportunity for repair visit. The entire 12'' radio was replaced and it has started ok since. However the weather has warmed and I mostly had the problem during cold temps. The behaviour of the electrics have changed since the replacement. For example everything shuts down quickly now after engine stop. Previously gages stayed powered for a longer time.

I also had a dead battery on my 2019 Limited, less than a year old. Had to have it towed to dealer. I have a charger but it would not take a charge. Dealer replaced battery but today the check engine light came on again. I suspect low voltage and that the air suspension pump goes off regularly draining the battery while I stay isolated st home these days. I bought a trickle charger and it is charging now. Hopefully this will fix the problem.

I know this is an older post, I am now having the same problem. My truck has been sitting without moving for about a month now. I went to the store yesterday and it rained last night. Today I went to start it and it wont start. I put a battery charger on it and it said it was 85% charged. I let it charge to 100% and still no go. it acts like everything is working it just clicks when it tries to start. I bought the truck in dec 2018, it now has 42k miles on it. I wonder if it will be covered...

Trying to call dealer now.

Something doesn't make sense here. They replaced the module and resealed the area, but found no evidence of water getting in? So what exactly did they reseal then? Also, it's unclear to me what your truck is. A 5.4 isn't an engine option for any 2019 Ram truck.

There seems to be two main culprits for water leaking at the back of the cab on 5th gen 1500's, although there have been other causes as well. The most common is probably the 3rd brake light gasket. The other is a cracked or leaky rear window frame. My suggestion would be to check both of those for signs of leaking. Hope I'm not breaking any rules here, but there's a ton of info on these problems over on the 5thgenforum.

I took my truck to the dealer service center. They fixed it and wanted to charged me >$3000. They have created a ticket with Chrysler to see if they will pay for it however, we have no response yet. What would be a good method for me to proceed?

I told them about your reply and they said they have already done the repairs. I just cant pick it up until they are paid for...

They said the rain came in the back glass, and flowed to the RF HUB which now may needs to be replaced. The speakers in the almost brand new truck are weeping. They said there was a TSB about it however, since my truck has 48k miles it was unlikely it would taken care of.

They said it was not a recall issue because it was not safety related.

I bought this truck Dec 2018. I then moved from Arkansas to texas and put a substantial amount of miles on it in a very short time due to the move. I have taken great care of this truck and have always been a loyal Ram / Jeep Customer. This time I went all in and got the beautiful Laramie Longhorn. I have owned 6 Ram/jeep vehicles. This is the first time I feel like I am getting screwed over.

Just wanted to post an update on this. My vehicle was outside of limited warranty. But RamCares and my FCA Agent took care of it. It took a few weeks but it is all taken care off and I pick up my truck shortly. Cost ended up being crazy. They had to replace RFHUB, Headliner, Back Glass, and Starter before it was all said and done. It had a cost of >3k Thank you RamCares for taking care of this!
