I just bought a used 2019 2500 with 6.4. This ram is my first , have always had fords, mostly f-150’s. I have retired and bought a rv. I want to be able to monitor transmission temperature. How can I monitor it? Still learning about it. Deeply disappointed in owners manual, thank goodness for this forum.

Scroll through the menu options until you get to transmission temp, or gauge summery.

This pic was to show how freaking hot it was the other day. But you can see to the left the info I prefer to keep in sight.

Coolant temp
Trans temp
Oil temp
Oil pressure

What's hot?? My normal coolant is 212 + oil up to 225 + and Transmission is usually around 170. All perfectly normal and in spec. They want the oil temp higher to burn off contamination and the trans temps are all higher because the 8 speeds like running hot. Higher temps are good... don't listen to the goof balls on here telling you to change your thermostat or add coolers.. they will wreck your truck for you!

You think that's HOT? That's not even up to running temperature yet!

Ram Running Temp.jpg

This was taken two weeks ago, when we arrived at the State Park, full operating temp, I pulled off to the siding to take the picture.

This is my normal operating temperature when towing a 7200lb travel trailer at 65 mph down the highway. My old Ford Diesel never ran
this cool.....!

No, 170F is not perfectly normal for transmission bulk oil. Engine oil is changed 5 - 7 thousand miles because it is hot (210 - 230F) and absorbs cylinder blowby.

You wanna change your tranny every 7,000 miles? Or wreck it and wait until 50,000 miles? There's a long thread on the ATS & RevMax trans oil thermostat replacement. Search.

Pretty sure BigLazer was referring to the 127 degree air temp in LeesEvox's pic. That is freaking hot!

I was referring to the 127 degrees on the exterior of the vehicle (outdoor air temperature)... you know like outside the car..
