2019 RAM OUTSIDE MIRROR REMOVAL ADVICE

I just purchased a 2019 Ram Bighorn (I just love it) and want to change the outside mirror covers. I purchased the chrome covers that are standard equipment on the Laramie edition from the dealer. How do I get the existing covers off my truck. I'm stumped. Any help would be appreciated.... Thanks

Just a FYI, you don't have to make another thread about this, the one you made yesterday is still there. Wish I could help you with your question but I've never removed them before, I'm sure someone else will chime in with some advice though.

sorry not to be disrespectful to you,but the dealer you bought them from cant they install it for you?

Like others have said, there are older posts that show you all you need to do. In short, there are several clips and one screw holding the covers on. To replace the covers, you have to remove the glass. Good luck with that as most have cracked one or both mirrors. I changed my covers to body color and got my driver's mirror glass off with no cracks but the passenger side glass cracked. Cost $170 for replacement glass. Great mod to get them where you want them but potentially expensive.

Well took the truck to the Ram Dealer and was quoted a price of $30.00 a mirror to change. When the truck was ready, I was told they didn't want to try the change for fear of mirror breakage. So back to square pne If someone could direct me to a post where someone did the change I would appreciate it...

Have you tried searching the forms about this subject? There are plenty of threads already started in this regard, I searched "mirror caps" in the 5th gen section and came up with these results. I don't want to personally dig through the threads but if you have some time you may find your answer (or identify other members who have done this, and ask them). I did email Ram Customer Support yesterday and basically told them the dealer sold me $150 plus in caps and now they tell me they can't install them. Maybe just maybe Customer Support will come up with an answer. Well its been over 24 hours and maybe not. Thanks... Bill

Anytime Bill, I hope you find the info you need, or the person who can provide it. I would be curious as to what their answer would be to that question as well, doesn't seem right they would sell a part that they couldn't install.

Well, the story goes on. After not hearing from Customer Support, I called them. Talked to an attentive young man on the phone who immediately called another dealer in the area, conferenced me and set up an appointment for Monday. We'll see.

Took my truck to Slimans in Amherst Ohio for the cover replacement. They jumped on it and replaced both mirrors breaking only one which they are going to replace tomorrow. Couldn't ask for a better service department Folks were super nice and apologetic. I told them no apologies necessary as I believe it is a very poor design. They washed the truck and didn't charge me anything for the replacement. Now, I'm of the opinion this is a very good dealership and my next Ram I will purchase there.....

Sliman Chrysler/Ram replaced my broken passenger mirror under warranty and did the chrome cover installation at no charge. I couldn't ask for more. Without question, I will order my next Ram from those folks. I'm a very happy camper.
