Help needed....
I recently purchased a 2022 1500 5.7 v8 with roughly 45k miles on it. I love the truck due to its cab size, smooth ride and performance at higher speeds. I bought in doing what I felt was thorough research although I fully admit I am trying to build my mechanical mind in the truck world and have mostly ridden a motorcycle my adult driving life.
After roughly 8k additional miles, I noticed what sounded like the heavily mentioned exhaust manifold issue/ tick noise I have read about in other forums. I brought the truck to a RAM dealer who said it was indeed the exhaust manifold issue and that the passenger side was replaced per manufacturer warranty and that driver side would likely also need to be replaced knowing the issue.
Long story long, they later called and abruptly told me the passenger side was fixed and to come pick up the truck.
After asking about whether or not they looked at/fixed the driver side, the service member gave me the runaround before finally stating that the driver side was not fixed, it most likely needs to be done but that the parts were on backorder and ultimately that it passed the mechanic's tests and everything sounded good to go...
I was confused and due to a very pregnant wife, decided not to raise absolute hell and to go calmly pick up the truck.
Shortly after picking up the truck, I noticed the tick sound still present...Feeling conned and wanting to stay as cool as possible, I called another local dealership to get a second opinion, who stated that they have the driver side manifold parts available and would take a look at the truck for me, AND that they also don't know why dealership 1 told me they didn't have the parts because they often times use the same exact warehouse......
Long story longer, 2nd dealership later calls back and tells me that the tick noise is actually the dreaded lifter tick, and not to worry because all parts are still under warranty and that they would happily perform the work per warranty and if there were metal shavings or pieces found, they would replace the entire engine completely free.
My fear is that dealership 2 puts a bandaid on this thing, my truck very soon reaches the life of its powertrain warranty and then I am SOL.
I have a baby on the way and as imagined have begun freaking THE F$#^ out over finances...
I am seeking help, advice, tips, etc on how to either adequately remedy this issue through the warranty channel and ensure they aren't just slapping bandaids on things until the manufacture powertrain warranty expires, OR to fix this issue with aftermarket parts in the most reliable or affordable way possible. What kind of money am I looking at that way? I've read about deletes, BD manifolds, and after market camshafts.....I need help.
Any meaningful ideas, shared experience, thoughts, prayers etc is deeply appreciated.
