2023 RAM 1500 Remote starting feature

I have a 2023 RAM 1500 Bighorn (5.7 Hemi w/etorque).

My remote dasboard in my RAM phone app will lock/unlock the doors and can do a multitude to things.

I'm curious if remote starting could be done with the app, and if so, is it a prescription pay deal through Stellantis that can be added or does the vehicle have to possess it from the word go?

Once the free trial runs out if you want it to continue you'll have to contact Uconnect and purchase a pkg. They offer different ones per your needs and you can bargain with them.
Personally I find it very useful. And I prefer the app Uconnect over the RAM App. You can download the Uconnect App from the appstore and login with your same credentials.
I like the layout better.

I did a little checking with RAM Uconnect earlier yesterday (Sunday). I spoke with a rep regarding the remote starting and Uconnect in general. Here's what I learned...

For openers...

Uconnect is the term that's used for RAM vehicles (maybe more Stellantis models too?) produced from model year 2021 and older.

RAM Connect is the term they use for RAM vehicles produced starting in 2022 and newer moving forward (or until they change that too).


My RAM 1500 being a 2023 then has RAM Connect.
I'm not sure it they're any different or if it's really only difference is in name? I know you pointed out that the dashboard is different and that you like the Uconnect dashboard more. It does look nice from your pictures but I'm going to stick with the RAM Connect DB for now at least.


With regards to the remote starting feature, they said that since my 2023 RAM 1500 did not come with remote start, there's no way to add it through the RAM Connect app alone. They asked if my keyfob had a remote start feature on it. It does not, therefore it's not an option for me. My thinking was that it might be as easy as a programming thing but they said that's not the case.

My RAM connect free service is for 3 months at which time it's $14.95/month going forward or annually or $164.45 annually.

The WiFi service is separate and through AT&T. You need to contact them separately for those packages and costs. She gave me a separate number for the RAM AT&T WiFi service which is : 866-595-1330

That's been the case for a while, unless something has changed even if you add the OEM remote start after the factory there's no way to get it added to the UConnect.
If your looking to remote start your vehicle from your phone, your best bet is probably aftermarket. Their monthly cost are usually less and more reliable service.

Remote start wasn't a high priority for me when buying. If it wasn't too much hassle I'd have done it.

If I'm not mistaken, only the OEM remote start will allow the Auto Comfort On options (heated seats/steering wheel/mirrors).
The OEM remote start can be added after the fact, I think AlfaOBD can enable it if you want to do it yourself

Interesting - my 2023 User Manual has an entire section of many, many pages dedicated to my "Uconnect" and what it does.

It can be VERY confusing. The system is called Uconnect and is what you're referencing. But I believe what THE OP is referring to and what I've discovered is prior to 2022 the App available was/is called Uconnect App.
Now Ram is getting away from using THAT App and wants you to use the RAM Connect.
They're 2 different apps accessing the same database, but I've found inaccuracies with the RAM Connect App and prefer the Uconnect App. The Ramconnect app you can add service records so I do use it for that.
The pic above in my other post is Uconnect App.
