I recently bought a 2024 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi 4x4 and have a question about the 4 wheel drive. I am new to Ram so would like to know if it is necessary to cycle through the different 4 wheel drive cycles every so many months to prevent problems when you actually need to use it. I realize it’s new but just want to keep it well maintained for the money I spent on it. Any feedback would be appreciated
Welcome. I personally engage 4Hi and 4Low and move it 1-2 hundred feet every couple months. Nothing says U have to, but I like to know there are no issues, so seeing it all work proper makes me happy. I am kinda old school and believe in moving all parts for lubrication, and and, but that is just me. I could find nothing in RAM manual stating to do or not to do, beyond warnings of not operating 4WD on dry roadway surfaces, and also turning issues. I do not have a snow issue here, my problem is mud, high water and wet fields. DO as U seem fit, I guess I like peace of mind. But all ABOVE IMHO !!!!!
ADDED: Moral of the story: Drive it, enjoy it, and maintain it with good Fluids and filters at proper intervals.
