A couple weeks ago, I changed the engine oil in my 2024 Ram 1500 Rebel GT with the 5.7 Hemi and a Mishimoto Catch Can. I was skeptical at first, but I'm glad this crap didn't make its way back into the engine. I installed the catch can at around 1500 miles and the odometer was 6467 miles, so that's roughly 5k miles of gunk collected.

JFC, why do people make stupid facking comments like this…
DI Turbos put fuel into the cylinder prior to the spark, unlike a hemi where it is simultaneous. So if there is any contamination in the cylinder that is hot, it causes an explosion when you don't want one, assuming your brain is working correctly. Not that you seam to really care with that sharp tone, but anyone else can easily googlfy yourself how beneficial a catch can is on an application that requires no contamination to the point they changed every shelf oil on earth in order to not even have a little calcium ash, for one single reason = di turbo. Modern engines are advanced ownership vehicles, ignore the bread crumbs at your own peril, the lazy people are going to suffer like Darwin promised, it's just that we have been spoiled until now. Older engines are way more forgiving.

I agree, the hemi does not need a catch
can or a toilet seat. The Hurricane boys
are revved up with no place to post about
the catch can.

Not sure why the turbo reference was brought up in my thread either. The 5.7L Hemi need a catch can? Maybe, maybe not. However, I would rather not have that oil/sludge mixture making its way back into my intake and onto the intake valves. I'm thinking of sending a sample of what I collected to Blackstone to determine exactly what it is...

Any direct fuel injection engine (which the 5.7L hemi is) will benefit from a cleaner intake and cleaner intake valves. I was skeptical before I purchased the catch can, but I'm a believer now. I saw it with my own eyes and shared it.

The Hemi isn't a "Direct Injection" engine it's "Port Injected".Direct Injection refers to the injector being mounted in the combustion chamber similiar to a diesal.
The Hemi's injectors are actually mounted in the intake manifold and spray fuel into the intake port, but they still need a catch can to miniumize crud build up inside the intake manifold and on the walls of the intake port.

I had read online the 5.7 Hemi was direct injection. I should have just gone out into my garage and looked at my truck to verify, but I didn't. You're right, it is port injection. I understand the difference. I assumed what I read online was correct. My fault for making that assumption.

Feels like I’m always learning something new here, I have more than a few post’s that more experienced members have “fixed” for me, one of the many reasons I enjoy this forum so much.

I’m impressed by the amount of condensed oil vapors that was prevented from accumulating in the valve train. After years of overhauling engines I DEFINITELY can see this would keep the oil vapors from condensing & gumming up the the top end. Thanks for the info.
Best regards

Have a catch can on my 22 5.7 since day one and have NEVER seen that much oil in it at any oil change.

It’s likely because you’re in Florida, and your truck probably never runs in below freezing weather. Catch cans catch more fluids during winter months, especially in northern states.

I recently emptied my catch can (same catch can that the op has) after spending the winter in Florida, and it contained much less than when we drove the same truck in Eastern WA in previous years, where we saw plenty of winter weather.
