I'm looking at the build and price page on the ram website for 2025 Power Wagons and it's saying the only wheel choice is a 20" wheel. Is that real or just an oversight? I can't imagine new PWs being produced without a 17" wheel.

Diesel will be a Rebel. Remember the Rebel 2500 is not it's own standalone trim. It is an option package on the Power Wagon in the order book, and as a result the window sticker will read: "RAM 2500 REBEL/POWERWAGON CREW CAB"

OK, As it would happen, I just received my window sticker for my truck! I will have the 17" wheels after all. That simplifies my life and it what I'd preferred after all.

If you look at the Ram website it lists the Rebel as a standalone trim model. You have Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited, Limited Longhorn.
It does not list the a "Rebel" package as something you can option out in a Power Wagon. I don't completely trust their website as it seems to randomly change.....but just saying what the current website states.
For 2025 it does list the Power Wagon as having 20" wheels with 3.73 gears standard and 4.10 optional. But as I said above let's see what is states in a few months! The 20" wheels doesn't surprise me especially if they upgraded the brakes any, which is a common complaint on these trucks. A 17" rim is tight against the calipers.

I know, but the actual order book and the window sticker disagree. The base truck in the order book is the same:

DJ7X91 2500 POWER WAGON / REBEL CREW CAB (149 in WB 6 ft 4 inBox)

Then if you want the Rebel you add the 2GR option. If you don't, it is a 2GP and stays a Power Wagon.

*edit* (2HR if you want the diesel Rebel, 2GR above is the gas Rebel)

They just need to quit throwing the power wagon nameplate on rebel hd trucks. It just focks everything up and confuses people. Im not really sure how that even became a thing…makes no sense. Might as well call it a hellcat…means the same thing, NOTHING

It's not the first time. The Express wasn't it's own thing, at least in the 4th gens, it was a special package for the Tradesman but marketed as it's own trim. There are likely others, but those are the two I know of off the top of my head.

It is confusing. Additionally, it made it *very* difficult to search for new PWs on line as all the Rebels come up as PWs on sites like cars.com. You can filter out the diesels pretty easily, but there's no real good way to narrow it down from there except to look individually. There's a lot more Rebels on lots than PWs for some reason, as well.

I know there was a lot of talk when the 2500 Rebel model came out that the window sticker had the term Power Wagon on it. Completely agree that it makes everything confusing especially if the "build" section on the Ram website doesn't match up with the order book.
Doesn't surprise me at all there are more Rebel models on the lot than Power Wagons. The first item would be because you can get the Cummins diesel in the Rebel and not the PW, and the diesel is wildly popular. PW's in general have always been pretty rare on the lots. There is a dealer in the town I live and another in the town where I work and it's rare they have a PW sitting on the lot. There is a really big dealer (where I bought mine) not too far away and they currently have 4 PW's (actually 2 are Tradesman PW's which are really rare to see) out of 30 2500's currently on the lot.

The window stickers still list both. Even filtering for gas, you'll find nearly all Rebels.

I think the build and price is just because customers don't care about the underlying architecture, they just want what they want. At least the options are mostly correct, unlike the Canadian site which sent me down a long fruitless search for OEM PW aux switches. Their site swears its an option, has for years...they don't exist.

I almost never see another PW where I live. The only place I saw them relatively often was Jackson Hole, but stupidly expensive trucks are like Camrys there. Raptors and PWs, especially. Only peasants drive a King Range in Jackson Hole... :D

Power Wagons are just like the Rubicon models in Jeeps now. I see tons of Rubicons on the road everyday and people buy them because they have the off-road look and lots of fancy creature comforts. Very few people care or know about any of the off-road stuff like the lockers, swaybar disconnect, or 4:1 transfer case on a Rubicon. I live in the Midwest so very few trails and public land to explore. I will bet that the vast majority of Rubicons around here (or Jeeps in general) have never even been in 4wd. If so maybe to get into their driveway after a snowstorm.

Unfortunately the winch and intercooler occupy pretty much the same location.

Something Ford has been able to figure out in an OEM configuration, but Ram just can't....

The debate you get into is whether the truck is a true "Power Wagon" or not. Guarantee if it was a diesel it did not have a front locker or swaybar disconnect either, along with not having a winch. As far as I know the Rebel only has a selectable rear locker and that is the only thing it shares with the PW.

In regards to the winch with a diesel, it's not that you can't put a winch on the diesel truck.......just that the winch setup designed for the Power Wagon will not fit. If Ram wanted to offer a factory winch with a diesel they would do it. Not like it's some complex problem that needs worked out. They would just need to design a winch setup that work. The reason they don't offer it is the bean counters and/or upper management has decided it's not worth it. With all the frontal crash certifications and testing, plus the normal testing protocol for durability, there is a lot to doing something like this. Not like you can just bolt a winch on and put the trucks on the lot. I'm sure their prototype shop could have a working prototype mounted in a day or two.

In my window sticker there's a distinct difference called out between the "Rebel Suspension" and the Power Wagon suspension- called "Articulink". How/why they are different, I can't say. But I did find it interesting when I finally got a look at my sticker.

The difference is the coil springs and the front radius arms. The coils are softer sprung/taller, and the radius ares have an added link at the axle end (non-powerwagon models are solid at the axle).

They didnt bastardize a power wagon, because it wasnt a power wagon.
