Hello.

I just noticed today that when I press the brake pedal down and the shift knob is in park or neutral, I can feel something wiggling from within the shift knob.

When pressing the brake while in drive or reverse and holding onto the shift knob, there is no vibration or wiggling.

The vibration is only present when in park or neutral.

It doesn't matter if the engine is running or not.

Weird.

Finally took it to the dealer to have this looked at. The wobbling in the shift knob while pressing the brake pedal in park or neutral is normal. Tech said it's the shift linkage which is tied to the brake. Seems weird, you can see the knob move when pumping the brakes.

The other issue of hearing a low pump sound under the hood when hitting the brake turns out to be the vacuum assist. Doesn't happen all the time and he said it's normal. It's to help make the pedal easy to pump.

Okay, but I've little confidence in the shift linkage from breaking.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure the gear selector is merely a switch. There is no linkage attached to it.

I’ve had a 2017, 2019 and now a 2022 all with the rotating gear selector knob. Gave the 17, & 19 to my kids. They’re still driving them. None of us have ever experienced a vibration in the selector knob under any circumstances.

No idea what may be causing your vibration but if it’s “normal”, our three trucks all have a problem we’re unaware of.

Yup just electronic switch to module no linkage attached like old column mounted shift levers
