Hello. I am making this post my for my Dad who isn't very technologically inclined. He owns a 2025 Ram 1500 Longhorn Limited with the High Output Engine, and he would like to hardwire a dash camera so he can have 24/7 parking recording
In order to have these 24/7 features is he going to have to have this camera hardwired to a fuse somewhere in the vehicle? He had mentioned that his truck has an accessory battery that powers the perimeter function, so it would seem like that would be a good source of power to ensure the main battery doesn't get drained by the camera. Is this realistic, or is there not actually a way to have it powered by that secondary battery? I had seen mention of the cigarette lighter plug staying powered while the vehicle isn't on, but I am not sure if that is true, or if that would drain his battery. He does drive the truck about 5/6 days of the week.
It would be super helpful is anyone knew anything about connecting dash cam via hardwire to this specific truck as I am kind of lost here. Fortunately, my personal vehicle seems to have niche products that solve issues like this, but I'm not aware if they exist for his truck. Sorry if any of this is lacking in information needed to answer the question. I'm not a huge car/truck person so I am working with limited knowledge here. Thank you to whoever has answers or insight
