hi everyone I've asked this before and didn't really get any responses so figured id ask again..

Not having any luck getting a dealer to give me my pin.. they say they can't do it

I recently had a local pop a lock make me a new key for my truck. He scanned my truck with what I'm guessing is a dealer scan tool to retrieve a "security code" in order to make a key

From what I've read the same 4 digit key code to program keys is the same one to reset the rfhub and the tpms. However the guy had no clue if it was a rotating code or if it were a separate code used for making keys only

I have yet to try it because I don't want to screw anything up

So my questions are..

1.. is the "security code" the guy gave me my 4 digit pin?

2.. if it isn't the pin will I screw anything up by trying to program my thresholds and having the wrong pin?

Thanks for any advice!

Have no idea what PIN the key guy retrieved? There are one time temp PINs for stuff like keys so not sure if that was what that was? With that said entering the wrong one won't screw anything up, it just won't work.

Have you tried another dealer? They should give you the code if you can prove ownership of the truck. I got mine no problem. Last resort there is an android "app" that will supposedly work for retrieving it as well. I think it is like $15? Don't remember the name but I'm sure someone will chime in with it or look in the ALfaOBD thread.

The pin he used was a rolling pin only good for maybe 24 hour's. The dealership should give you your permanent pin for your truck. Not all dealers know that they can or mix the rolling and permanent pins up. Most dealers will charge you for it. Anywhere from $0-150. They can basically charge whatever they want. If the dealer wants more than $15 for it you can download the Chrysler pin puller app and it's about $15 for "tokens" and can pull your pin from your truck

If you enter the wrong pin 3 times, the WCM/RF hub will go into lock out mode and you’ll be screwed for awhile. Truck won’t start. This is true for programming keys anyway.

I’m not sure if it will do the same with tire pressure settings.

The dealer parts department is required to provide you with your trucks pin upon request. You need to physically go there with a copy of the trucks registration and your drivers license to prove who you are and prove ownership. Once that is confirmed they are required to provide it to you as owner.

Alfaobd will do it

You can get your 4 digit pin with alpha obd.
I pulled mine today and used it to turn off my tpms.

Yup works great with the '18 2500CTD, of course AlphaOBD put in their update AFTER I paid a website $15 to do it. Had a clueless dealer at the time.

Not sure if the trail version will do it.
