Hey, just joined and I searched but I couldn't find what I'm looking for. I have a '21 Warlock with the AT package. This means better tires but also 17" wheels. My opinion is that they look kinda puny. I though I could get used to it but it isn't working. I can either go with a 285, which is 2 sizes up, but it doesn't look much bigger in pictures although the measurements aren't too far off the stock 20's. I don't think the little lift on the Warlock helps any.
My question is, in your opinion, should I stick with the smaller 17's (the stock rims are nice 17x8 I think), or spend the money on an aftermarket 20" wheels and run a nice looking 20? All opinion of course.
No off roading but I do run rough lease roads sometimes. My last 3500 diesel had a Carli levelling kit and 35's but I don't want to go that big on my 1500. I'll level if I have to but I cant get anything bigger than the 285s without a level and UCAs without rub. Confused yet? Price of tires comes in to factor too I guess.
I just don't like the look of the 265/70/17s but they are 10ply.
I can include a picture but the truck has been a garage princess lately. No room for a decent pic.
I welcome all opinions and appreciate the time it takes to respond.

20210404_134443.jpg You can fit 285/75r17 on those wheels 34" tall tire. Some on here have put 305/70r17 on those wheels too with no issues. Here is mine with a 2" level 17x9 wheels & Toyo AT3 305/70r17.

You can do 285/70R17 without rub. I have that size on stock 17x8 wheels and they don't rub but it's damn close to the upper ball joint.

I do get the occasional joker telling me I ought to get bigger tires, so I guess that means they look small... but they work fine and since the spare tire area in back won't fit a 35 it's nice to carry a full size spare under the bed instead of inside it or not at all.

Other options are 285/75R17 (fewer options) or 255/80R17. I'm fine with pure utility so I stuck with 285's but everyone has their own motivations and looks are as valid as any other.

This is my '15 Tradesman on 255/80R17's , 17x8" wheels, no lift and no rub:

Same truck with 2" Mopar lift:

This. You can fit 285/75/17. If you level the front 315/70/17 will fit if you have the same backspace as the Rebels.

I was told by my local 4wd shop, the 285/75/17 would rub. If not, Id definitely look into that size.
The other option would to go back to 20's as I had on my '14 Big Horn. That involves new wheels AND tires. blah
Thanks for the responses!! I appreciate the feedback.

This dude fitted them in on factory Rebel wheels without issues. Back then he didn't have any level. Your truck should be 1" higher in the front compared to his. Your wheels should have the same specs as the Rebel ones. your suspension is literally the same as a Rebel. don't overthink too much because your 4wp shop said this or that. Find an Americas Tires local to you, they'll have much better prices that 4wp. They can test fit them for you no questions asked.

Ok. Thanks for the heads up. I was very concerned about rubbing on the ucas. If I can fit them on my stock wheels, I may give it a go. I only have 350 miles on the truck so far so I'm going to make a 8hr highway run in a couple days to get a baseline for fuel mileage.
Thanks!!! The pics help alot.

If you're still on break-in, conventional wisdom is to not use cruise control or stay at the same engine RPM for long periods of time. Varying RPM is said to keep break-in more even by not allowing any of the moving bits to fall into a harmonic pattern and wear itself a rut. So have a little fun on your road trip, eh? :)

@Crawgator does the 17 rebel come with that 1" factory lift as well? I have a '19 warlock - with the factory black 20" rims and want to go to a very similar setup with 17's and 305s. Just not comfy that it will actually work.
