I have 4.10 gears. I haul occasionally and will have a 5k travel trailer early next year. No regrets at all, I love it. I knew I was going to put 35s on it eventually so I went 4.10s.

I’ve had both gear sets, and I hands down prefer the 4.10 gears!

For an 11k lb trailer & hemi, 4.10. Engine doesn't have the low rpm grunt, kicks in app. 2400 rpm.

I have your setup with 3.73, on purpose. But my max trailer is only 6k lbs, towing occasionally. Therefore, I wanted better mileage on my majority deadhead use.

If my earliest example is of any use, I had a 91 Dodge Ram 2500 with the original Cummins 6BT5.9 turbodiesel engine. It came standard with 3.07 axle!

Those 4.10's will be a nice benefit for the 35's, I would have done the same.

my reasoning would be: I have the 3.92 in my 1500 and it runs great and is plenty peppy..but I am about to move up to a 2500 gasser and they are 1000# heavier and have a 3.73 (taller) with only a slightly more powerful motor so I am thinking 4.10 to get anywhere the same driving experience when not towing..my son got a new dsl 2500 last week which is nearly 2000# heavier than our 1500's and he was amazed at how much of a slug it is to drive around. it tows great tho he says.

Just my .02 worth. I have the 3.73's and get about 15 MPG, and my tires last 45k miles a set. Seems to me the unless you need the 2k lbs of extra towing, it will be costly to drive around on the 4.10's as I know I spin the tires too much now!

First of all forget the Hemi and go with the Cummins , after having 2 of them and than getting the Hemi there is no comparison. Don’t make a mistake like I did. Both gears will do the job I have 373 and pull 1200 lbs with no issues and get about 16 mpg empty

We have a ‘19 Power Wagon, and 4.10’s mesh great with the 8 speed. Obviously I would rather have the added capability over better MPG.

If you 100,000 miles empty on open highway at 68~70 mph, w 3.73 your
Going save 146 gallon of gas ($450),

But if pull 11,000 w gas 6.4 your gone
To want for 4.10 ,
You buy a 2500 for big transmission
Axle, brakes. Heavy hauling, safety,
Now day w little PM you can one 250,000 mile

my 1500 pulls our 6000# trailer great but we have no cargo capacity left is the reason I am looking at 2500's..we want to travel to some farther away places and not be loaded to the max. dsl would not be any chance for me as I dont want to pay 9400$ more and the more costly upkeep it requires. probably would never go much larger on a trailer either as we park ours on our property and it is as long (28') as the street is wide where we have to pull in and out from so already a challenge getting in and out.

It does tow "great" with 3.73 gears......IF you're not pulling in the upper half of GCWR loads! That's what we're trying to say. If you are, or plan to, load in the upper half of the GCWR, then get the 4.10. If not, 3.73 is plenty fine.

4.10's.
Got them in my '17 2500 CCLB 4x4 6.4 hemi.
Next stop, 4.88's or 5.13's.
You can never have enough torque.

Had 3.92's in my '09 1500 4x4 5.7
It still felt like it was geared too tall. Wished I had 4.56's in it.

Appreciate the feedback! Do you have any regrets or dislikes with your 4.10s? I've combed these forums for hours but gladly will listen to any advice as to what to add or avoid if the opinions are out there!

If it was a 6 speed 4.10 all day!! But these 8 speeds a magical

I’ve had both 3:73 and 4:10 in the 2500. Currently have a 16 PW with 4:10. Love the truck and the gearing. My preference is 4:10. I had little to no difference in mileage between the two axle ratios. But much better drivability with the 4:10s. My current setup tows an 8k to 10K trailer a lot. But love the truck running empty as well. I’ve seen as good as 12.7 L/100km with the 4:10 empty and 23.2 L/100km towing around 10K.

my next truck will also be 4:10s.

3"73 and never look back. Better fuel economy by far and actually pulls a load better at speed. The only reason to get the low gears is if you are putting monster tires on.

I have a 2500 with 6.4 and 4.10. Absolutely love the way it drives, acceleration is great, tows my camper likes it’s not there. 8sp is great on the highway, gets my average mileage up a bit. In town I am averaging about 10.5-11 mpg. The 3.73 would have been plenty for my current camper but I got the 4.10 with plans for a 5th wheel later.

Maybe my Kodiak Dana 135 1-1/2 ton axle with 4.88 gears is enough?

I too had a 1500 with a Hemi but had 3.55 gears. It was a good performer and I got typical Gas mileage. I traded it, and bought a 2021 Big Horn 6.4 Hemi with 3.73 gears. I'm hoping to get it within a few weeks... in transit from Manufacturer now. I don't need the 4.11's for towing and I test drove a truck with the same 6.4 engine and 3.73's and it has plenty of balls to pull a large trailer and yet will give you better day to day fuel mileage. Just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.
