Just for the record, I wanted to let everyone know that Nitto Terra Grapplers in 305/70r17 will fit on a 2WD with a 2.5" level using the stock 17x8 aluminum alloy rims. At least they fit on my 2005 with no rubbing at all.
I had to replace my 295/70r17 Terra Grapplers after 6 years and about 60k miles. So I figured I would try to go a little bit bigger and the tire shop was nice enough to have both the 295 and 305 tires shipped in from their warehouse to test fit. There's not a tremendous difference between the two tires. According to Nitto's website the 295 is 33.19x12.13 and the 305 is 33.98x12.36. It's close to hitting the upper control arm, but clearing is clearing.
