Yup still beating this dead horse. Taking my truck in tomorrow morning for some recalls and having them try to reprogram it again for the 32g tank it has. Filled it up on Friday with 0 miles left till empty and it only took 23gallons. 3-4 gallons I wouldn’t care.. But 9 gallons... at 15mpg that’s an additional 135miles. That’s the difference in me paying a **** load of money for ****** California gas or making it home. I’m really hoping they can resolve it this time. Wish me luck.

I was down to 19 miles and for the first time took over 26 at 27.3.

Does that software allow for you to change what gas tank you are carrying?

Yes, but the reason I asked him if he has it, is if he did, I was going to see if he would upload his bcm data before he went to the dealer, then after. Then he could compare exactly what they are changing. If whatever they do works, he would be able to share what they changed so the rest of us with the AlfaODB software can make our own changes.

I am local to zautomotive and I work with them as far as stuff for the Rams go. I've already messaged them about this. If he can simply find it for the ramtazer unit I'll let you know if it's easy to do.

it will allow him to modify the "full" and "empty" points that the fuel tank sending unit sends to the bcm, which in turn shows on the fuel gauge. it helps represent fuel content more accurately.

it still does not take away from the "extra 5 gallons of fuel" nonsense- which is what you still have, when that DTE reaches zero.

When my DTE reaches 0, I have like 9 gallons left lol... just dropped the truck off, I thought I had the recall for the auto park done, but the service writer said “ Nope you have an 18, it shouldn’t need it”,so I asked him
To double check it and maybe upload it anyway as my 32 gallon tank is being read as if it was a 26g tank. They said they would look into it. I’ll have the truck back today by 5, but unfortunately it’s going to be a few days before I need to fill it to see

I have the AlfaOBD software and have been tempted to change my settings as well. I haven't checked my BCM to see what I am currently set at but when my low fuel light came on I only took about 27 gallons.

In contrast a buddy of mine who has a 2017 1500 gets 27 gallons in when he hits just below a quarter of a tank.

I think someone had just changed their settings recently and was waiting to report back once they ran through a tank or two of fuel.

For my 2017 Ram 1500, pentastar with the 32g tank, my situation improved some with a recent visit for a few recalls (all but the talegate). With ~100 miles 'till empty, I've "only" got about 7g still in the tank. It used to be closer to 9gal. Of course when I mentioned this scenario to my Ram dealer service adviser, he had no idea what I was talking about. Reading some "info" online seemed to shed light on the recall software updates automatically updating software associated with 32g equipped trucks.

I just bought a 2014 RAM 1500 and seem to have the same problem. Drove the DTE down to 50miles, the gauge was at empty. Put in 25gallons and gauge reading full tank....I'll have to mention when I bring in for recalls.

I had the 32 gallon recall done. I haven't pushed it to 0 miles left. I usually refill close to light coming on. My average fillup before was 26.5 gallon now it is 28.5 gallons. I had over 29 once. At 50 dte I probably have 2.7 gallons in the tank so the numbers make sense.
