I recently saw someone post a modification to their heatshield so they could mount a 35" spare. I for the life of me can not find it. I got a Toyo 35 R/T spare mounted and it is not going in. thanks in advance.

I take it you’ve already aired it down. True 35 or a 315?

yes aired down and 35x12.5-17 Toyo R/T which run pretty big compared to many other 35's. I recently just saw a post where someone who I can't remember modified the heat shield to get it to fit.

Without pushing up the railing and the hitch wire harnesses out of the way there's no way that my 35" C/T tire would have fit.

Victory. I pulled the valve stem core and sprayed fluid film on part of the tire and got it up there. once in place put a about 20psi back in.

My 35x12.50x20 Nitto had to go in the bed, locked by a cable, under the tonneau. Itd hit trackbar, and just was too large.

FWIW, my 35" Toyo C/T fit in my spare location without any issues at 40 psi.

Could be that they run a bit smaller, could be that my spare tire location had a bit more clearance than others. Who knows.

Either way, I spit on it, it went in easy and felt great doing it. Wait what.
