Hi! So first off im not the most knowledgeable guy and this is my first build so I will need some grace please. I have a 92 D250 manual 5 speed with a running but sluggish 318 in it. It is my daily when I'm not riding my harley and will continue to be after the build. I currently have a 360 being stroked out to a 408 at my local machine/ custom motor shop...for my bottom end have started with a forged scat kit but now I'm trying to figure out if I want to keep my roller cam or what would be better? I'm looking for more low to mid rpm range so I'm thinking 230-240 range but more aggressive and responsive? Opinions on this and then to heads and intake, fuel system and beyond but this is where i am currently... thank u guys

Any cam with the duration at .050" in the 230°-240° range will not make a ton of low end torque. More like mid-range to higher RPM horsepower. If you really want to make low end torque keep the duration short and the lift high. Something in the 220° range with a lift above .575" would go nicely with a 408 stroker. You will also want to keep the roller cam as you can have the more aggressive ramp rate to get the valves open faster and create a larger intake charge going in to the cylinder head.

Big question. What are you using for tuning and who is tuning this thing? Are you using a standalone system like the Holley or Megasquirt, etc.? Or is this a carbureted build?

Thank u fast69, and that is the question... the only place in my area that is set up to do it was hesitant but said they would tune it for me so I was going to upgrade my fuel system and intake through them but they won't get back to me now??? So now I'm contemplating a carb system but it's a magnum setup already so I am currently trying to figure out what to do now...I need to make some more calls I suppose...I was looking forward to the mpg from fuel injection but I'm open if it's not to much nonsense to convert it over.
