Howdy, I’ve scoured this thread and others but can’t seem to find this particular answer. Currently my 2017 1500 has a 6” Rough Country suspension lift and I’m running 35x12.5r20s on the stock rims. I know I can fit 37s as is but when I get new shoes I wanted to jump to 40s. Anyone know what size body lift I would need in conjunction with my current suspension lift in order to fit 40x13.5s? Brand recommendation?

Thanks in advance!

Run the front 2 inch struts to make the front lift 8 inches, then a 3 inch body lift should make them tuck in there. You will need brake lines for the front and perhaps extend some wiring.

Thanks for the input... I won't be changing the suspension lift I have now since it was just put on. So that being said,

Run the front 2 inch struts to make the front lift 8 inches, then a 3 inch body lift should make them tuck in there. You will need brake lines for the front and perhaps extend some wiring.

When you say "run the front 2' struts" do you mean get struts 2" longer than what came with the suspension lift or do you mean add a 2" spacer over the front struts, or something else entirely that I am missing?

For 3" body lift.... anyone have any thoughts on this:

Thanks again, everyone!

right you can get for example a Rough Country 6" lift and add the quick lift struts instead of using the stock ones and you get 2 more inches so you land at an 8 inch front lift. There are a few lifts that are compatible with Bilstien struts as well. So you can stack

People been doing it for years....As long as it's properly done, no issues. Problem is,it's not often done correctly.

Just seems like wheel bearings, ball joints, tie-rod ends etc. would be about disintegrated in a year of just normal DD. Actually wheeling with it would have to just flat out destroy stuff.

Or do they actually make 1/2 ton stuff strong these days? I have been out of the half ton truck crowd for a while, so excuse my ignorance. Back in the day it would hardly hold up in stock form with any abuse.

I respectfully disagree....Now keep in mind, my "back in the day" was the NP205 transfer case and dana 44 solid axles. We put 40's on them all the time, coupled with 4.11 gears, drop-down transfer case supports (for proper drive shaft alignment), longer drive shafts, etc. We abused the hell out of them in the mud. They held up just fine. 3/4 tons (as we called them then) were for 42's and 44's.

Just my perspective. I'm not familiar with the independent axle assemblies, or the strength of them. That being said, your comment of "oof' might be right on the mark nowadays.

My back in the day was a new 2000 ram 1500 I bought when I got out of high school. Still had solid axle, but man you could snap an axleshaft with a set of 35’s on command. The new IFS stuff I know nothing about.... but something tells me its not any stronger.

Yea, I follow them on IG and he insisted that it was minor trimming to the pinch seam area. I believe they are 0 offset wheels. I wouldn't be surprised. They have since put glass fenders on and it looks proportional.

As far as looks go, I think its great. But I know damn well 40’s dont fit in factory fenders without oodles of trimming.

I'd surely be curious to see what he actually cut. That or it cycles about as much as a sheet of plywood.
