426 hemi

I have a 3rd gen and finally found a motor I want to swap into after college. And that is the 426 generation 3 aluminum block hemi. After looking intoI have heard that it is really a 6.1 or a 6.4 with a stroker kit. And even in the description online it says 426 aluminum block hemi with 6.4 heads.

Can anyone confirm if this is true? Because at that point might it be worth buying the 6.4 engine and boring and stroking it myself rather than buying the actual 426 from jegs or summit or any other vendors?

This project is not soon... but I'd like to know so I know what to start looking into in terms of parts and what not. Any help is appreciated thanks guys.

Its just a stroked 6.4 block. What motor do you currently have? I you already have a 5.7 maybe you would consider stroking that to a 6.4 and save some dough for the tranny.

I have a 4.7l and if I am going to do a motor swap I want to go big or go home and do something a little different than what is commonly done. Which is where the 426 comes into play

Yeah it was a typo on my bio. But I'm over characters so it won't let me edit it. But it's actually a 7.7l 468 I forgot it was bored out a while back so there are 2 things I need to change I'm just never on as much as I'd like to be anymore to be able to do so lol
