First post here. So.. 2012 2500 hemi. when I first start the engine sounds great no lifter tick. After about 5 miles or so ( the oil temp is over 110 degrees at this point my lifters sound very bad, loud ticking and some power loss. Then after another 5 miles or so the noise all but goes away (sounds like a normal lifter tick very quiet). New rebuilt engine, less than 1000 miles on it. Not sure what lifter brand was used. cam is mopar though. It just seems weird that the problem would come and go like that. any ideas? engine light comes on with random misfires all on bank one. I will end up replacing lifters when I can. Shop wants 3000$. I can do it myself I just don't have anywhere to do it.

Did you purchase the rebuilt engine somewhere, or have someone rebuild it for you?

I definately would not be driving it and bringing (towing) it back to them, especially with <1000 miles on the rebuild.

It definately does not sound good going by your post, but hard to armchair diagnose it with little info.

What engine size?

What codes?

Any video of the issue?

More reasons for running it as little as possible.

Please post back with progress or what is found out, I hope you get it sorted and it's an easy and simple repair.

Thanks for the reply. Codes P300, 001, 003, 007. so. defiantly left bank. It's just wierd that there is no noise to start then it appears for a bit then goes away. Pretty sure lifters. I bought a rebuilt engine. they built it when I ordered it. I'm in Washington they're in so. cal. 5.7 hemi full time v-8. The repair is just taking the one head off and replacing the lifters. I might have to wait till the snow melts and we get some good weather.

Man, that sucks.

Check the ground, should be on the back corner of the driver side head. Odd that it is only the one bank. Unless a harness issue.

No warranty from them?

1k miles is not very much to start having issues.

Wish you the best. Please keep us posted of your progress.
