It doesn't look that bad. With good maintenance and oil changes I would run them. If you got time and the money laying around, then sure why not, but I think they still have lots of life left.

Oh, dang. Yeah, that one is toast. Did you not see that with the scope? I don't like the design of that plastic lifter retainer.

That sucks, man. Such low miles. What oil were you using?

They don't have a great rep. When it comes to cams, you usually shouldn't go cheap, especially if you plan on keeping the truck for awhile.A cam kit for $1500 isn't really going to be all that great as far as quality goes
Get ahold of MMX/Moes or FRP as they sell high quality cam kits.Stick with outfits that specialize in the hemi, and don't be scared to pick up the phone and call them for reconmendations that suit your usage
BTR is to new in the hemi game and so far they haven't got a real stellar rep.

The 30 extra HP would help towing my trailer the cam is 619.00 my only fear is the quality of the lifters in it now ..

There's no way I would bother with a new cam, especially if towing. The extra ponies are only gonna be at max rpm's, and with towing, you should be more focused on low-end and mid-range torque.

By the time you're done messing with new cam/lifters/tuning you'll be almost halfway to paying for a brand new 6.4L crate engine. I think @Wild one has a couple of buddies that did a 6.4L swap, and IIRC they were both used for towing??? I seem to recall him saying they were both pleased as punch with the swap and the extra tire-burning power. ;)

Hey Quikkota that picture of the cam is from my motor with 260,000 on it . I picked up a motor , eight HP 75 trans , transfer case front drive shaft .that is the motor you saw in the earlier pictures that one has flaking on the cam he told me it had 47 thou on it . Russell at sound German is going to have a wiring harness in a month and a half I'm putting that 8 HP in there going to need a tune anyways I'm trying to get everything in place to just swap over you read so many things get rid of the MDS keep the MDS. I think it is just poor quality materials myself you could pull my dipstick at 3000 miles and it look like I just put oil in there.that intake number two nothing to do with MDS. if I'm going to get a tune I need to wait to get it tuned for the 8 speed not the six speed that's in it. I'm not just using it for towing it's my everyday just wanted it a little more out of it course with the good cam I'm sure it will have better performance.

I bought a 2000 brand new with 12 mi on it I put 352,000 miles on it . sold it to a guy at the shop where I work He's got about 390 on it now original motor trans Towed 27 ft triple bunk fully loaded wood in the back of truck five bikes hanging off back of trailer. Would drive it up to the sand dunes unhook the trailer and go beat the snot out of it. Hook it back up go home had to put three rear ends in it great truck. I read somewhere they were talking about bringing something like it back.

That was before the return of the Hemi,so it would of been a 5.2/318 or 5.9/360. The 318 was indestructable and would live forever if you maintained it

Whatever you do, make sure that you clean all the oil galleries when you have the front off the engine. Even on "clean" engines, I have seen sludge build up in the oil galleries, plenty of gunk build up in the oil gallery where the front main goes through.
