I just installed the MaxLux 35w kit last night, figured I'd post quick with a few lessons I learned.
First, not having a socket set is a ****. Just moved recently and couldn't find mine, so I had to go at all the bolts with an adjustable wrench. Honestly that took the most time.
A great place for mounting the ballasts, particularly if using double sided tape like I did, is right behind the headlamps on both sides, attached to the painted frame rail section I guess you'd call it, that sort of goes up on an angle. I didn't take any pics unfortunately as I was trying to get it done as quick as possible, but it's a perfect spot. I mounted my ballasts flush to the edge, which gives the wires plenty of slack to run down below and back up to the back of the headlamp. Having the wires dip down into a U shape like that prevents any water wicking up toward the headlamp assembly also.
Also, I can only assume they don't adjust the headlamps from the factory, but man are mine way off right now. Checked against the garage door from about 8 feet away, the driver's side lamp is about 8-12 inches higher than the passenger side. Almost as if they had it set up for RHD! I bet the factory halogens wouldn't have been so bad if they had adjusted them properly from the factory. I'm going to raise the passenger as much as I can and then maybe see if the driver's side needs to go down if I start getting flashed a bunch.
A lot of people get nervous about the HIDs being turned on and off in relatively short periods, but in my opinion the only thing you really have to worry about is stuff as quick as flashing the beams. Illuminated entry, lights on with wipers etc. should all be fine. The only thing I haven't seen yet is the auto headlamp feature. In previous vehicles with auto lights that I've done drop-in kits on, I basically lost auto lights completely. Either that or one would come on and the other wouldn't, that kind of thing. We will see how the Ram handles that.
All in all, it seems a very intimidating install if you've never taken one of these beasts apart, but it was actually really easy and quick. Took me about an hour including about 5-10min of troubleshooting time when I got the polarity of the wires that connect the ballast and the factory headlamp connector wrong haha. If I was to do it again, and had either a 10mm ratchet or better yet an electric impact, I think I'd easily be able to knock it out in a half an hour to 45min.
