hey guys new here was on another forum for awhile but not much activity happening there so it was time to move on.. heres my issue..
so my ram makes a noise like a baseball card stuck in your spokes on your bike. this noise only occurs while in 4wd never in 2wd. It sounds like its coming from the right rear.
I changed the front drive shaft as the boot was torn and dry, I pulled the rear diff cover and didnt see anything abnormal but then again not sure what im looking at. Gear oil was little milky cleaned it all up and refilled along with some limited slip additive.
How much play should be with in the rear driveshaft. This only makes that sound while in 4wd. It definitely does sound like it's in the rear and does not matter if I'm going str8 or turning. the faster I go the faster the clicking sound makes. Im not sure if its in the t-case or the prop shaft and the noise vibration makes it sound like its in the back or what.
When in 4wd is there strain on the rear end, U-joints, bearings, or gears, I would think if it were bearings it would make noise all the time, same as well with u-joints.
Any ideas on where I should start looking ?
thanks
