Alright guys, I need your help once again.
I'm having some issues with the 4wd on my 2000 ram 1500. Its harder then usual to get the selector into 4H and can't get it into N or 4L at all. And when I do get it in, the front wheels don't have power. Thought it was a fault in the vacuum since the lines were so rusted. I relplaced them but still nothing. The dash indicator isn't coming on either. There is a loud rattling coming from what seems to be the transfer case. upon further investigation I found a hole in the rear casing of the transfer case large enough to see the chain. This means its ben running dry for a while but I don't see how that has anythign to do with my 4wd not engaging. I am gettign a vacuum on one of the lines and I understand that it moves a diaphram which slides a collar over which locks the inner axle to the outter axle on the passenger side.
My question is what am I missing and what could be wrong here.
Any help you guys can provide would really help. I'd rather not have to replace my transfer case just yet. I don't have that kind of money
