Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but here goes.

I have a 2008 Ram 1500, 6speed manual, 4x4, 4.7L. I just got it yesterday. When I was test driving it, I put it in 4WD and the light just kept blinking. Tried 4Lo, same thing.
I figured it would probably be an easy fix and talked the dealer down $1000 on the truck, partly for tires, partly for this.

I tried to engage it when sitting still in my driveway as well, with the engine running and the shifter in neutral. (during test drive tried 4high while the truck was moving). I can hear the actuator underneat the truck trying, but just sounds like maybe it doesn't catch?

Anyone know a simple fix without swapping out parts?
Thanks in advance. Luckily winter is almost over, so I can deal without having 4WD in my immediate future. Will need it when its time to go fishing and shooting during the longer day though.

You said you heard the actuator working underneath when you tried to put it in 4x4? You figured out that it wasn’t engaging because it was unplugged. Just wondering why the actuator was making noise if it was unplugged? Having 4x4 issues myself and can’t figure out.

Hey just fyi, may not even be related, my riding partner just had his 4wd stop working, his is a 2016, but his wheel speed sensor wire got tangled up in something and broke. he had all kinds of lights, abs, yada yada, but it caused his 4wd not to engage. Once the wire was fixed all was well. Again may not even have diddly squat to do with your issue.
