Started the 397 stroker build today, sadly the stroker kit did not include the crankshaft sprocket spacer needed. Now will be held up 3 or 4 days before that comes in. :(
You would think the kit would include such an item. You live and learn.

Looking nice. How much over bore on the pistons?

Who's stroker kit did you purchase?

I know what a “stroker” is. Buuuut, other than that, I am lost on any kind of engine building. Good you you. Super stoked to see the final result. Please post a few YouTube videos. I would love to check it out. Especially with the truck doing some drive by’s.

I have a 2014 ram 1500 I bought new. I was thinking of having a shop do some engine mods in a few years. Maybe a pro charger or a stroker kit. Who knows. Would be awesome!

Will do, will end up with a 397 stroker with a D1sc procharger. My heads are almost complete as well. I am ready!

Little progress made yesterday, the windage tray I bought did not even come close to fitting, bought another one today, apparently you have to make sure you order a different one if it is for a truck. Should be running by November!

Stupid question here, but what do the rocker bracings do?

Hemi's have been known to break the rocker stands, the tie bars tie the stands together noticably stiffening and helping to stabilize the valve train.Even Ma Mopar has them,so if Ma Mopar has stabilizers you know there's been the odd issue with broken rocker stands.Stanke / Manton /Mopar etc.all have them,i'm running the steel Mopar versions on mine, but they are alot more money then either the Stanke or Manton aluminium versions are. They also usually require you to trim the underside of the valve covers for clearance. The Mopar versions come with a template to use for the trimming needed, not sure if the Stanke or Manton versions come with a template, but you can eyeball up where they need trimming if they don't have a template.

Thank you for the great response.

I run nitrous and aftermarket stiffer valve springs ,and nitrous creates instant cylinder pressure so i did the tie bars a few years back.High cylinder pressures put a bigger strain on the valve train,as it takes more pressure on the valve to pop the valve open. Big cams that require lots of valve spring pressure over the nose of the cam and utilize lots of rpm to make power are the engines that really strain the valve train. That combo creates harmonics in the valve train that'll break rocker stands .

Well i went overboard and basically went overkill on my crew cab 4x4...FBO,CAM,Procharger,etc..... best was 12.39 @ 109 quarter mile. I finally woke up one day and realized I need to drop weight and add some cubic inches (and have forged internals for all my boost desires). Bought the single cab, put that engine in the 4x4 and took everything from the 4x4 and stuck in the single cab (in process of doing). Always wanted to build an engine with my father (a serious mechanic) and we ain't getting any younger. Looked like the 397 route was the most Cubic inches i could squeeze out of the 5.7. Ended up going with a 9.5:1 compression ratio to safely run higher boost with pump gas, maybe a little boostane in there also. Been some ups and downs but learning as I go. Hopefully see some 10 second passes. :) ;) :)

Mans that’s great. I’m enjoying your build. Kinda following you with my truck.
