I have a 2005 Ram Daytona that I bought with a seized motor. I’m looking to get a replacement engine and I found one from a 2003. After doing some research someone said to only use a motor from 2004 or 2005 due to some changes from 2003. And then someone else said 2003 is the same. Anyone have any ideas which is true?
I also found an article online saying that 2003 has valve seat issues but were fixed in 2004 and newer models. True or not true?

It will work, the difference is EGR. The 03 engine won't have provision for it in the head and the intake manifold port will be closed. They can't make up their minds, depending on where you look 03's have valve seat and/or valve spring issues. Over 150,000 miles on my 03; nothing yet. If it worries you, swap your 05 heads & intake manifold over. If you don't wanna go through that, your options are to either custom tune it and have the EGR written out or just live with the CEL lol.
