Hey guys looking for some input. Just took the 5.7 out of my 2006 ram 2500 as it was knocking bad. After doing a tear down i decided to completely rebuild it. While i have it apart i want to play with it a little bit. Stu from inertia can get me a stroker kit for 3000 but i don't really want to get that involved. As of right now i am planning on upgrading the valve springs to the 6.1l. Upgrading the oil pump and timing set to the 6.1l. boring twenty thousands on the pistons. JBA shorty headers (about the only ones for a 2500 4x4). I want to do a cam but can't decide which one. Either a comp 260 or one from inertia. I have a diablosport i1000 tuner on its way. Do i have to have someone tune that or does it come with can tunes? Anything i missed?

Some of these might already be on your list:

6.1L pushrods
New valve seals
Clean the throttle body
New O-rings for the fuel injectors
New lifters

If you do a Cam swap then you'll need a custom tune and Stu or someone else can do that for you. If you're thinking about doing a higher stall torque converter now would be a good time with the engine being out. I went with the Crazy Jay Plus and really like it. Between the Cam and the new tune mine drives like a different truck.:)
