So I been driving my buddy's 5.9 around and this thing is slow as ****. I floor it and it climbs to high rpms fast but has no get up and go. It's an 04 with 24v and a 48re. Does it need a different tq converter or is the tranny slipping like hell? I'll take a video some time. And he said he noticed it too

Feel like it needs a lower tq lockup. It has all its tq at low rpm but hp at top end IIRC. This truck has 3.73 and 31s so he says

You think a 5.9 is slow you outta drive a 6.7 dually automatic with a dump bed and all the emissions ****.

No your friends truck probably doesn't need anything. They aren't race cars, they are made for towing. Yes they are slow, but put 15k lbs behind it and it will be exactly as slow as it was before. They have a lot of power but it is not meant to be seen as speed.

A tuner at max settings will blow your buddy away on a cummins, but will also blow his tranny away within a few years if not careful.
