545 hard downshift

Guys I have a 1500 and when I come to a stop sometimes my Trans will bang into the lower gear while I am applying brakes to slow for a red light. Any thoughts on how to prevent or fix this

First thing first, check Trans fluid level & condition. The cooler lines on the early 4th gens liked to leak. Check the fittings that are near the front right side frame.

I'll check the fluid level tomorrow. I chanced the fluid about 25k miles ago.

Be sure to check the fluid while in neutral with parking brake on. Neutral uses the Trans cooler & gives the most accurate reading. Fluid does not flow through the cooler in park.

Ok checked the fluid. Seemed to be a quart low. Now I have no idea how that happened. Unless I didn't fill it enough when I changed it. Going to take a look at the cooler lines this week
