I have a 2026 1500 big horn 4x4 with the 5.7 hemi and e-torque.

Do these e-torque trucks have extremely sensitive brakes? From what i understand, the e-torque has some type of regeneration while braking feature, and was just wondering if this is what is causing the very sensitive braking the truck has.

I noticed it right off the bat on the initial test drive. Coming up to a stop sign it brakes relatively normal but as i slow down more and more its like it starts braking even harder, without more input from the brake pedal. Heck, even if i actually start lightening up on the brakes while slowing down its like it still brakes even harder. Ive got 6k miles on it now, nothing has changed.

Just wondering if this is normal for these e-torque motors or if mine may have an issue. I have never driven another one to compare, but was considering taking one off the lot for a test drive just to see.

I’ve noticed that sensation on my 23 every now and then but not most of the time, at least that I notice. I assume it is the regenerative braking unless you are driving up close to the car ahead and the emergency collision avoidance system is kicking in. I’ve had that happen a couple times when someone slowed to turn off in front of me and I was getting a little close to them while swinging out to the left to clear them. But that’s usually accompanied with alarms and warnings popping up on the dash.

Yea i have had that shut off since the day i test drove it…but the alarms have still gone off a few times lol.

Yea it feels to me like the regenerative breaking system, and it is pretty much always what i consider to be quite intrusive. Just curious if this is normal operation or if my truck might have an issue i should have looked into.

It sounds like it’s the re-gen braking. It does take a while to get used to it. It’s also the only feature of the eTorque system I can say I ever notice.

I just bought the same truck Feb 19. Exact same pedal feel as you described. Sensitive pedal. When almost to a stop it feels like it’s braking harder on its own than a slight decrease at the end. Have you had it looked at or compared with another similar truck. Interested to see what you found out

I have not test drove another truck yet for comparison. I should go get the trailer brake recall done at some point…maybe will do some test driving then.

Take a look at this video. Go exactly to 16:25 in the video. It addresses the same issues we are having. He talks about it. https://youtu.be/Ed-tMzLU-Vs?si=CVGpSQwVxnHequ8_
Yep! That is exactly what i have been experiencing. So that pretty much tells me thats probably how all the e-torque trucks are. I was mainly wondering if mine had an issue that i should be getting checked out. It is kinda frustrating to me like he said, but i just takes a little getting used to.

Yeah, hopefully there’s an update that It helps smooth it out later. It is annoying.

was wondering if you ever decided to get your truck looked at for the weird braking issue
No. After researching for a bit i kind if just chalked it up as being normal. Ive got 11,000 miles on it now and its still the same, but i have pretty well gotten used to it now.
