5th gen toppers

Anyone have and pics of their 5th gen with a cap on it? And did you have to buy new or will a 4th cap fit? (Not sure if the bed changed). Just deciding on whether to up grade my 16, and a topper is a must for me now.

Will post pics later. Just brought home a 2020 short bed crew cab and transferred my Ranch cap that was color matched to Granite Crystal. Taken off a 2016 crew cab same color. Fit good but will need to add some more foam under the front of cap by the cab.

Installed today...Leer 100R. Purchased at Johnson GT. They installed it but I had to do quality control as it wasn’t squared up and is missing a screw cap on the back which you can see in the pictures - and the dealer didn’t have any in stock. Also you can see the poor installation quality of the window gaskets and the rear gasket hangs down 1/2” below the whales tail cover when closed. I will do my own repairs to make it work and contacted Leer asking them to send parts.

Leer quality is very poor in my opinion.

It looks good to bad the quality isn't there, as for having to watch them to make sure it is installed correctly is sad on the dealers part.

Agree, it looks fantastic and after a couple of weekends fixing windows, replacing the missing cap, aligning gaskets, etc., and it will be fine but all should have been done at the factory or dealer. Leer makes a big deal on their video of their quality control group inspecting each unit before they are shipped so they are “perfect” - Bravo Sierra.

Update: Leer is owned by Truck Accessories Group LLC (https://www.truckgroup.com/). They manufacture Leer, SnugTop, Century, Raider, and Pace Edwards. Their warranty department is crap as they refuse to send any parts - even when your provide pictures - for warranty or even if you want to purchase them but instead insist you go through your local dealer.

Well, I have been working through the dealer (Johnson GT of Houston) and they keep saying “Don’t call us, we’ll call you!” I found the caps (Snap Caps) on Amazon but you have to purchase 100 of them at $25.68 shipped.

Buyer beware!! Truck group only cares about the sale and to hell with any service after the sale.

Their email response from Truck Accessories Group was as follows: “THE WAY YOUR EMAIL IS SENT, I WOULD THINK THAT YOU WERE ONE OF OUR DEALERS.

YOU SENT ALL THE CORRECT INFO ALONG WITH PICTURES.

HOWEVER WE CAN NOT SEND RETAIL CUSTOMERS ANYTHING.

PLEASE VISIT THE LEER.COM WEBSITE TO FIND THE CLOSEST DEALER TO YOU AND VISIT THEM AND THEY WILL ORDER THE PARTS FROM US.

UPDATE December 17, 2019 - No thanks to Truck Accessories Group LLC, I searched via Google and found the SnapCaps at a local distributor for $3. I had to purchase a dozen but at least I have extras in the event one falls off again.

Ranch cap Came off a 2016 big horn. Fits good enough to save me a couple grand .

I"ve owned all the major cap brands over the years and this is my second Ranch Premier Cap. Frameless side windows, carpeted interior, switched Led light, Dupont base coat clear coat. Sliding front window as well as hinged drop. Screened opening side windows. I personally think this is a better quality cap than Leer or ARE for far less money and attendant brain damage. Fiberglass work is flawless and paint a perfect match. And $1,800.00 installed plus tax. By the way, I've had quality control issues with both Leer and ARE mainly with fiberglass crazing and cracking but also had leaking and paint issues.

I have ARE on my 4th Gen and love it. I was hoping to just transfer it to our new 5th gen but ARE said it will not fit. So I guess I’ll be ordering the new z2 from ARE.
