So I posted this in the wrong forum a week or two ago and didn't get much response. Figured I'd repost here...
I need to do a cam/lifter swap in my 2012 5.7. 4x4. Wondering whether the SRT cam would make a better upgrade than the 6.4 HD truck cam? Assume stock manifolds for now (if I can find a set of 100% bolt on shorty headers I may eventually do those), 3.55 gears, and mostly light on/off-road, hunting/camping and light/med duty towing. Currently running stock rebel wheel/tire (285x17).

Any info that anyone has comparing performance, driveability, or fuel economy between the two as swap options would be welcome!

Thanks everyone

If I ever have to put a cam in one of my 5.7s, my intent is to try and use one of the more performance oriented cams from one of the SRT groups.

Skip the OEM crap and get yourself a proper cam. like a Flyin' Ryan Performance / Jay Green / Moes

They all offer DD cams.

The Trans tune is 10x more important with the ****** 65RFEs.

What's wrong with the 65rfe?

Also, fwiw I'm not trying to max out performance, just get the best balance of real world usability, with a little added fun on the occasions I mat the throttle.

Thanks for the input as well. I'm really planning to stick with or (and keep the mds), but I'll take a look at the aftermarket cams too

I have done this swap. I d0 have custom tune as well. I think the cam cost me 78 bucks and the valve springs were under 200 bucks. This is in my wife's DD and the only reason I didn't spend money on a better cam is just because I had a cracked cylinder head and this was not a planned mod so I figured why not while I had it apart.

I did the 6.4 truck cam and mopar performance springs. I have a 2500 so I do not have MDS, I had Hemi Fever adjust the tune a bit to not throw misfire codes now and then since this cam is for MDS. I also have the 66RFE. The truck has a lot more power than it did stock for sure, you really feel it in the mid to upper bands and when the runners adjust, almost like a turbo boost feeling.
