6.4L Engine Break-in 2022 2500

I just found this on page 146 in the owner's manual (I don't have the truck yet):

Drive moderately during the first 300 miles (500 km). After the initial 60 miles (100 km), speeds up to 50 or 55 mph (80 or 90 km/h) are desirable.

Would appreciate the knowledge and experience of this group to comment and expand on this.

It's pretty much as written.

Some moderate pulls, after 60 miles on the odometer, to the specified 50 - 55 mph are suggested to fully seat the piston rings. No full throttle blasts until you get to 300 miles. If on the freeway, vary your speeds and don't hold it at a specific speed.

It is how I broke in my 2021. Seems to run fine, uses no oil between changes and aveage gas mileage over 5000 miles is 16.5 mpg, mixed 1/2 highway,other 1/2 city and hunting.


First highway trip, less than 500 klms on the clock when I left. Running 91 Octane with air temp of 75 F, it was at 18.1 mpg part way round the loop, got to 18.3 by end of loop. 2500 Laramie crew long box, 18" Firestone ATs, 6.4 with 3.73s.

The engine is broke in from the factory.

The manual recommendation is for the ring and pinion

Be sure to go onto read recommendation for towing also.

Good to know... i was around 70 today for a short bit. Oops. No full throttle shenanigans but, im still under 100 miles. I just got my 22 Saturday.
