Good Morning,

I have been looking at several different lifts for my 2017 2500 Diesel long bed. I believe I have narrowed it down to the BDS 6" or 8" 4 Link with Fox 2.0 shocks but want to make sure its the right decision. I'm looking to install 20"X12.5X37s. The plan is to keep the truck for 20 years and want a lift that will last the same. Currently I have a 2" leveling kit on the front that has leveled the truck within 3/8 of an inch (rear a touch higher with canopy).

I know its a personal decision but wanted to hear from others that have installed lifts on what they feel are the pros/cons. Last truck I had a 4" Pro Comp lift with 35's that worked well but like the idea of have the 4 Link system when going taller. Now back to the original question, should I go with a 6" or 8" lift? any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I'm starting to lean towards the 8" Lift. I haven't seen it in person but have heard it looks great and drives better then OEM! I only do light off-road when hunting or hitting the forest roads (most of the use will be on road getting from place to place).

I honestly think a 6 or an 8" lift on a 2500 would be awesome. BDS is a great kit to go with as well. Pretty sure you'll be happy with either set up. Most of the guys on here lifting their 1500's are under the impression the more lift the better. Havent seen anybody with a 6" kit wishing they had only done the 4"

^ Right here. Mic drop. I am a 4" guy and DEFINITELY wish I went 6". And everyone told me to and I STILL didn't do it. Get the 8" and you'll never second guess yourself.

I have 16 2500 not diesel but with the 6.4 HEMI. I have the BDS 5.5 basically 6 inch 4 link on mine and love it. I also upgraded mine with the fox 2.0 and added the front steering stabilizer. I currently run 20 x 12.5x37 Nitto Ridge grappler.

Thanks for all of the great feedback. I'l be going by the shop at some point this week to discuss the two lifts and figure out when they would be able to do the build. The 8" kit is an approximately 800 dollar upcharge from the 6" which per inch of lift isn`t bad. Of course there are several add-ons that can drive costs up a few more. Like most I'm probably overanalyzing but that's part of the fun. Whatever I do I will make sure to take some good before and after pics.

If you are the type of guy that likes your lifted trucks, I say go with the 8". I like the 6" on my 1500, but I want more. Next truck is no doubt a 2500 with an 8" lift. But hey, I like my lifted trucks, that's just me. Looking forward to seeing whatever you do!

Truck looks Amazing! Height looks about what I'm looking for. I know with the 8" the transfer case needs to be dropped a little. Thought about doing it myself but with less then 10K mikes on the truck I'm going to have a local shop DK Diesel do the work. Give's me the piece of mind and coverage if something goes wrong.

Thanks. If that is the height your looking for then go with the 6 inch. Yours would be about an inch higher since it's a true 6 inch instead of the 5.5 I have. But the 8 inch would be sick. On the 8 inch i would probably go to 40 inch tires. I also had a shop do mine because it would have cost me about the same to install myself due to the shop I deal with gets a discount from BDS and the shop also gave a an extra discount. Good luck either way you will enjoy it.

And I forgot to add that got a custom exhaust at the same time. This is because on the 6.4 HEMI the stock exhausts will interfere with the driveshaft after lift is installed.

Ok, Perty sure I’m going with the 8” lift. For rims and tires I’m looking at the 20”x12.5x37 DC’s with **** Crep’s Fun Country tires. Haven’t heard of them but not a Tire/Off-roading Guy. They look somewhat aggressive but not overboard. I should know by tomorrow night what I will be going with. I’m actually thinking about putting on one of the BDS wraps to add some bling. That or develop my one in salute to our military. We will see when that time comes.
