Hell all. I recently bought a CPO 2018 3500 Limited SWR Megacab. The 7 pin connector isn't providing power to my trailers brakes. Tried both 7 pin connectors in the truck, no change. Dealer plugged his tool into the truck and said everything is fine, of course. I've heard that some rigs had their wires crossed in the wiring harness. Has anyone run into problem and if so, how was it fixed? Thanks in advance.

The plug in the bed is parallel to the one in the bumper, you can actually unplug that harness from the back of 7 pin plug in the bumper.
Did the dealer check the F11(ITBM/Trailer Tow) fuse? Is there another trailer you can try the brake circuit? Or have someone else try your trailer?

Checked the fuses, they were fine. Have tried the brakes with 3 different trailers and the brakes don't engage. Push the manual control inside the truck and nothing happens.

IMO I would go back to the Dealer :O since you have a warranty ! Bring the trailer and have the mechanic take a ride with you ! If you get the BS line all OK when it is not tell them you want that in writing so if there is ever a accident because the trailer brakes are not working as they should be you can give that letter to your lawyer :O That might wake them up :) Good luck and please Update on what you find !

Hi samiam57,

I know that you are reaching out to fellow forum members on this, however if you are not able to determine a solution we recommend following up with your local Ram dealer as they are in the best position to assist. Our team is just a PM away if you are in need of any additional support while working with your dealer.

Hi Mark at RamCares. I've been to the dealer twice now. All they do is look at fuses, plug in their tester and tell me everything checks out. The truck has blown 5 different fuses in the 3 months I've owned it. The dealers know this as well. They chalk it up to blown fuses. This week they suggested that i bring the rig back with the trailer attached so they can test it out. When i asked them what they were going to test, they said they didn't know. Thus my turnig here. I've told them this happens on three different trailers, but they only trust their electronic tester. So, i guess i will have to get someone with a voltage tester to check out the connectors on the truck. If it was just one trailer i would go fix the trailer. But with it being 3 different trailer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, it has to be the truck.

Thank you for the follow up, @samiam57. I completely understand your thoughts. Have you perhaps considered visiting a different local dealer for a second opinion? If you would be interested in doing so, I can escalate a case on your behalf from the customer care side so that you are connected with a case specialist who can work alongside your dealer to ensure all potential solutions are explored for this concern. Even if you try to address this with your regular dealer again, please be sure to let us know. We're always a PM away.

What isnt real apparent is the factory RAM IBC in the dash, is a pulsed DC system. Maxed out ( heavy electric) the voltage at the rear connector is maxed out at like 7-8 volts if measured with a standard DVM. My braking was terrible with my fifth wheel RV brakes. My solution was to install a tekonsha P3 after market controller and now I have DC voltage to my brakes up to 14v if needed. Night and day performance difference in the braking on the trailer. The IBC in these trucks were slightly better 2016 and before from what I have read.
