Is there any reason to use say 2016-2017 vs a 2013-2015 radio other than just newer part ?

The 2013 to 2017 radios are basically the same radios now since they're all updated to the same firmware version. 17.11.07 or higher. Before the new updated firmware the 2015 radios had more options than the 2013 to 14 and the 2016 and 17 radios had even more options than the 2015 like album art more screen themes Etc. Now with the updated firmware they are all pretty much the same. I would recommend trying to find a 2015 or newer radio if you're going to be getting a VP4 with navigation because it will have the Travel Link and Real-Time traffic subscription free for five years from the date the truck was originally sold whereas the 2013 and 2014 radios only had it free for 1 year. I have a 2016 VP4 and my free subscription doesn't end until 2021. As stated if you're going to go for a 2018 radio which would be a UAQ Nav or a UAS non nav you would have to buy a different Media Hub plus if you have the 2013 to 2014 truck you would need to purchase a module for the heated and ventilated seats and heated wheel to show up on the radio screen. Is there any reason to use say 2016-2017 vs a 2013-2015 radio other than just newer part ?
The original post specified the years 2013-2017 (RA3/RA4). The issue you are referring to is for 2018 (UAS/UAQ).I would stay with the same model year ...for example newer radios can't turn on the heated/vented seats through the ucconnect soft keys without an adapter module to convert the commands.
