845RE TRANSMISSION PAN QUESTION

I am looking at doing a transmission service and upgrading the pan to one where the filter is able to be changed without buying a whole pan. The Dorman 265-850 cross references to the OEM part number 68233701AA. I spoke to someone at carquest and he said that the OEM part number does show that the Dorman 265-850 is the same but when you get onto their site it says it does not fit the 845RE transmission. I am very confused and so was the employee at carquest. Will the Dorman 265-850 fit the 845RE?

If it fits an 8HP70,it should also fit your 845

The Dorman pan will fit the 845RE. Not sure what website was giving conflicting information, car quest or Dorman. On the USA Dorman website it shows 265-850 as compatible on both the 845RE and 8HP. If you use the “detailed applications” drop down menu on Dorman it shows both 8HP and 845RE from 2013 thru 2021 as compatible.

I appreciate it yall! I purchased it and will be doing my service soon. I just need to figure out if I should go with OEM fluid or if there is a aftermarket fluid I can use. I am about to search the forums now for a recommended aftermarket fluid. If yall know a good A/M fluid that will work definitely let me know!

Valvolene Maxlife has a decent rep in the 8 speeds,avoid Redline or Amzoil in it,as neither have a great rep when used in the 8 speed

10-4! I did find 6 quarts of the OEM brand fluid on Amazon for $85, but you know how that is. Is it REALLY oem fluid in that bottle lol... has plenty good reviews backing it up. I'm not sure if I want to chance it, but for $85 that's a absolute steal. I'm guessing it takes 6 quarts to do a fluid drain and fill after dropping the pan?
