I read that using two nuts (16x1.5) and jam them tight, then using a wrench will generally loosen it up.

that might work. that was something we had considered trying near the end but couldn't find nuts that fit and the big fastener place was closed.

let me warn you sometime getting that stock nipple out is a pain in the @$$. i tried helping someone remove theirs and it would not budge at all. ended up having to take it to a mechanic and it looks like the mechanic pounded on one of those extractor sockets onto it to get it off. i know it was on there tight.

I assume you meant, took the whole truck to the mechanic as I don't see how that fuel filter mount can be removed or have I missed something again?

ya he took the whole truck in. he was there for oil changes an basic maintenance.

When I read that the first time I thought you might have take something off and carried it to your mechanic. I went out and looked and couldn't see where that would have been easily done lol...

Went to a large fastener outlet and got two M16x1.5 jam nuts for a $1, couldn't beat the price. Ebay has them except like a lot of things on the internet the shipping was stupid. Anyway jammed them together and no problem spun the nipple right off. I've been looking for a source for the fuel heater upper O ring and again prices and shipping get stupid very quickly. I went to the Dodge dealer and found them for like $6 each. It's a 29 cent O ring!!! But that the best it gets since they don't add on $12 for shipping. Bought two and when they came in to my delight they are the real deal and not the square fuel filter one. Haven't installed one yet, but fully expect it to seal nicely.
