Does anybody know how to go about tracking down where your 8 speed was manufactured. I know some are made Stateside and some are made in Germany. Suposedly some window stickers say if you have the Germany built version,so does that mean if your window sticker doesn't say anything about a Germany built 8 speed, just says 8 speed you have the US built 8 speed.

No idea, but I hope mine is USA made. Nothing on my sticker about Germany. Not sure it matters as the 8 speed seems pretty reliable.

I thought so to,but mine just **** the bed.Looks like 35,000 miles and 400 nitrous passes at the track are more then it could take, lol.
Thanks Basshead,i'll have to see if anything shows up on mine.

I thought the Hemi 8sp was German built. ?
and thought the one behind the V6 was built in the states.

JMO but if a stock trans took all that it's at the very least a decent transmission.

Both the 8HP45RE (V6 version) and the 8HP70 are built here in the states by FCA (licensed from ZF).

Far as I know, German designed. And FCA bought a license to build it.

Sorry to hear. Did you exceeds max hp and torque rating? If not, it should have handled the nitrous boost imho.

At one point the 8hp45/845RE was built in the states and the 8HP70 was exclusively built in Germany. That was awhile ago though and I imagine that’s changed.

What happened to your trans? Started slipping?

Yea it won't hold 8th anymore unless you're going downhill, and if you hit any kind of a hill it'll bang itself all the way down to 4th. i'm guessing the clutches are toast in it Dan. Got a theory on why it cooked itself though, just not saying much about it,lol.
Red Deer has factory remans in stock, after returning the core they aren't all that bad, cheaper then I thought at $2800 Canuck. Should have the new tranny later today or tomorrow, then I have a young Chryco tech from Edmonton coming down on the long week-end to help throw it in.
Gonna throw a PPE pan on it at the same time, that's if it shows up in time. Any tips you have for swapping the tranny,i'm all ears Dan,lol.I was just going to flush the cooler using a syphon wash gun and the Mopar ZF fluid

Last time it was on the dyno 2 years ago it was making 435Hp and 455lb-ft,but it's almost a full second faster now,so it's probably making closer to 500 hp and 500 lb-ft at the tires. DA corrected it runs mid 11's,for a 5280lb 4X4 it doesn't do to bad,bit of a sleeper, lol

Strange...I thought the 8HP70 was always made in Germany and just installed here.

My window sticker shows the source was Germany.

Apparently some are made in Germany and some are made Stateside. My window sticker on my 2014 regular cab shortbox 4X4 just says 8HP70 8 speed, with nothing said about point of manufacture,so i'm guessing mine might be a US built version, personally i'd rather have the German built version,as ZF in Germany has been building them longer and builds more of the 8 speeds then Chryco does, lol

Well that sucks, at least it was the cheaper of the two to go. Replacing the engine is a pricey endeavour. Do you have any tuning done to the trans?

No tips for ya other than beer and patience. I’m not the tranny guy at work. I do electrical and driveability.

How many quarts will it take with the new pan swap? I’ve heard it’s a pain to change the fluid in these 8speeds

Mess with shift timing and remove torque management maybe? I’m working with my guy to see what we can do firm/speed up the shifts on my truck.
