I'm giving thought to changing my high beams to LED bulbs. The stock one is a 9005 and there are plenty of aftermarket LED units available. Do I need to install anything beyond the bulbs for them to work properly? I did a low beam conversion and got the kit with the electrical adapter so I'm assuming I also need one for the high beams but I'm not positive. I'm not versed in the terminology so cut me some slack! I believe it has something to do with bulb flicker or cycling.

Depends on the brand. I've had my eye on diode dynamics or JDMASTAR to try out. Jdmastar hasn't failed me yet on led bulv upgrades.

So you're saying the JDMastar units do not need any sort of filter thing? Just a simple plug and play?

I have the LED fogs from JDMASTAR and they were plug and play. Tight fit no wiggles or flickering.

I am running Supernova V3 leds in my high beams and fogs. I purchased them from Headlight Revolution, and they came with the anti flicker module. They work great.

I was initially going to go with these for the high beams but then Diode Dynamics came out with their SL1 bulb that caught my eye.

Any night time shots?

Reviving this thread.

I purchased the JDMastar bulbs for my Hi Beams and only attempted to install them today. I discovered that the bulb is taller than the OEM and the dust/water cover doesn't fit over the bulb on the housing. They are suggesting some aftermarket devices as well as leaving them off completely. Has anyone omitted the cover completely? Have you had any issues with dirt or water intrusion?

If they don't fit try a different bulb. I wouldn't recommend leaving that dust cover off.

I'd agree with you except they DID suggest it. They also offer some alternative covers as an option. I purchased via Amazon and I don't see any offers to refund being a possibility even after requesting it. There are cooling fans at the end of the bulbs that obviously need air flow to work. I'm going to look further.

Not only do the OEM lights leave me wanting, the options are starting to do the same! I changed the low beams and they made a big difference but I wanted to improve the highs as well for those long dark roads. The brighter lows aren't enough.

Interesting I've never had Amazon give me problems about returns.

Either way if it was my truck I would buy something else. I'll gladly eat a $50 mistake instead of ruining my $$$$ OEM headlights

Can't disagree on that!

And I'm going to try and press the return too.

Thanks

Update. I missed the 30 day return period and when I requested a return I was completely ignored, not even an "I'm sorry but the time has expired" response.

In the meantime I've ordered some replacement reflector units to upgrade to projectors.

The quest continues~~
