So my boyfriend bought a '98 1500 with the 5.9 about 2 months ago. It was a private sale and he only got to take it on a limited test drive. Long story short, he got screwed and the there is something messed up with the transmission. That part is said and done. What we need now is help figuring out just what is wrong. The truck won't shift on its own, it goes into limp mode and you manually have to shift it into first, second and then into drive and it will not shift into over drive. Its throwing electrical codes for the trans. He has replaced the wire harness for the trans, all of the solenoids in the trans, adjusted all the bands and replaced the TCM. We can't think of anything else to replace. Its something electrical and we don't know what it is. Has anyone else had this/heard of this? Or have any idea what else it could be? Much thanks in advance!

We replaced that and it didn't' fix it. Then we went back and replaced all the other solenoids and the wire harness and it still won't shift right.

After replacing all the solenoids we put in between 7 and 8 qts. She's right where she's supposed to be on the dip stick.

We replaced the Ecu. Now we're replacing sensor after sensor. I don't think it's the trans itself as all the codes are electrical.

That's about the only thing it could be. That one if the parts we replaced was bad.

Has the transducer been replaced? It's supposed to be replaced with the governor solenoid, and its the part that actually tells the tranny when to shift
